How Transportation and Communication Networks Influence Economic Development in Different Regions

Transportation systems

A transportation system can be as simple as a trail people can walk on or as sophisticated as the advanced very-high-speed trains now debuting in Europe. Trade depends on transportation, whether by camel caravan or cargo container ship or rocket. Both NASA and the U.S. Department of Commerce have programs gearing up for the next giant leap in the field of transportation: commercial space flight. NASA's Commercial Crew and Cargo Program and the Department of Commerce's National Space Transportation Policy are helping to extend our reach in space and push the boundaries of economic development.
