How Various Cultures Have Experienced Exploration, Settlement, and Growth

Exploration has been one of the great constants of history, from earliest human existence to the present-day exploration of space. The earliest humans set out from Africa into Europe and Asia, reaching what is now Siberia and sending waves of migration over a temporary land bridge into the North American continent and south to Central and South America. It is theorized that those who settled in what is now Southeast Asia sent out explorers who eventually settled the islands of Oceania. Explorers have left home for many reasons: to find more resources or raw materials, to find new markets, to discover new technologies, to annex territories, or to gain new knowledge.
