Section 5: Knowledge of Communication and Media Literacy
Handwriting

Since the development of handwriting contributes to the development of other language processes, the method chosen is not as important as the key elements and components necessary for the student. School districts may utilize various writing programs, but what is important is the knowledge that handwriting relates to the processes of speaking, reading and writing. Instruction therefore should be visualized and verbalized. The purpose is to convey meaning, so legibility and accuracy both in manuscript and cursive require frequent practice and drills.
