Phonemic awareness is the ability to notice, think about, and work with the individual sounds in spoken words. How is  phonemic awareness related to phonological awareness? Phonological awareness is a broad term. In addition to phonemes, phonological awareness activities can involve work with rhymes, words, syllables, and onsets and rimes.
