Appropriateness of Assessment Instruments and Practices

Curriculum Alignment and Cultural Bias

Effective educators base their philosophy and teaching procedure on national, state, and local standards and competencies, using them as guiding lights. National and state frameworks provide the broad outline for the standards, while local or district standards often itemize specific skills and knowledge that your students must have at different grade levels. In addition, the diverse cultural backgrounds of your students must be addressed as you align the curriculum to meet their needs.

Objective

In order to determine the appropriateness of assessment instruments and practices, you will look at two major factors in evaluating appropriateness: cultural bias and curriculum alignment.
